Explore Twenty-Nine Latest Game Cards from Magic: The Gathering's TMNT Set (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)
Everyone's favorite pizza-eating superheroes are coming to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's publisher, the game's creators, announced a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion during a exclusive event held at New York Comic Con. Could this be a exciting addition or simply another crossover marketing move? We'll let you be the judge.
Take a look below at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful background. Everything listed here releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27.
Magic x TMNT: Core Set Reveals
Before diving into all the various special decks and bundles on offer, let’s take a look at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per pack.
Let’s explore a couple of surprising details. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu, in which gamers can cheat big creatures into the battlefield whenever an attacker isn’t blocked. The big difference in this case is that this new ability can affect non-creature spells too. Wizards also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a bit (Sneak is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are we'll see the new mechanic in upcoming expansions moving forward.
Should we go back to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu since that plane is it was developed and it is iconic to that,” an experienced designer explained. “But in other settings, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it's more likely we’ll use the updated version.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is among four special cards with unique artwork designed exclusively for the expansion by TMNT original artist Kevin Eastman.
Oh, and, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play game cards outside of your deck, many players were. Yet as per the developers, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.
In any case, here are the highly unusual land cards with full art from this set:
As per Wizards of the Coast's current policy, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to ensure the cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for over a year and we knew it would be in standard and which sets were going to be alongside it in Standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to make sure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet strategy focused on artifacts.
“They combine to provide the pieces for a fun Standard-legal deck,” he added.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!
Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your commander based on how you combine them (five cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command area instead of only one). Take a look for yourself:
The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, though that could easily go up based on demand. Sources indicated that it includes 43 new cards altogether, which means an additional 37 TMNT-themed game cards besides the six legendary commanders shown above. (Doing some rough math, that also means about 20 reprinted cards if we estimate the precon comes with 37 lands.)
What will the TMNT version of Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and see.
TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)
As per usual, the company is selling a bundle. It costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil land cards
- 15 Regular land cards
- Two Reference cards
- 1 Foil promotional card
- 1 Large spindown life counter
- 1 Card-storage box
Pizza Bundle
Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it is packaged in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Each Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the items below:
- Nine Play Boosters
- 1 Premium Booster
- Twenty-five Non-foil pizza lands
- 5 Foil pizza-themed lands
- Two Foil pizza bundle promotional cards
- 2 Reference cards
- 1 Large life tracker
- 1 Card-storage box
If you’re wondering what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s basically a reprinted older card featuring all-new Turtle-themed art. The team showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter adding black licorice pieces onto a pizza. There are six distinct pizza promos available.
This special bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Bundle
This special bundle is made for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. That will get you:
- Twelve Standard Boosters (the perfect amount a group of four to play draft)
- 1 Collector Booster (also known as, the reward for coming in first)
- 90 Regular land cards (for building your draft deck)
- Ten Non-foil double-sided tokens
- 1 drafting guide (a one-sheet guide to drafting this expansion)
Cooperative Play Set
Finally, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to create Magic game products aimed at new players. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend join forces to face a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The general idea is that each Boss card grants special abilities to the creature cards included in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays an additional card per turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
