Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started turning to personalized games made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how grueling these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four types of assignments, but where most merely grant outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of acquiring twelve from the forty-one main guns available in the game.

A number of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and only works at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles

This is difficult enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game currently, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from over 200m away.

The Workaround

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This allows you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

However, when tackling the tasks in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for finishing these in a personal session so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

For now, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous battlefield assignments, expecting a fairer gaming experience in subsequent patches.
